The Assman of Pulzar FM

Click to hear One RingI've been chatting to Chris Church the Assman of Pulzar FM in Christchurch. Yes - that's his official jobtitle. Chris called Chelfyn yesterday to say that he really liked our new release One Ring.

I was in the toilets at fashion week when Chelfyn called so I had a delicious yet muted one way conversation. Next to journos and fashionistas powering their noses carefully while desperately earwigging. It was something along the lines of "Hi babe. Pulzar FM just called? To say they liked the track? People have been requesting it all day? Yay!" It was one of those moments you want to remember for ever, and Chelfyn & Clayton are stoked.

All our tracks will soon be available to buy online. We've looked into pressing vinyl and CDs for our indie label, but it's hard to distribute when you're so far away from the rest of the world. Bigger labels often won't sign you unless you've been released, and there are no indies in New Zealand releasing our kind of dance music. So Chelfyn and I have decided to make the leap straight to digital distribution. Within a few years most DJs will be playing off MP3s anyway.

Ngati Babes
I'm back from the final Fashion Week shows and my head's a blur of satin, flesh and lights. I need a day off frocks [and heels] before I get stuck into my piece. My favourite shows today were from the horribly precocious Ngati Babe [only 13!] and Liz Mitchell's sumptious 'Kiss of the Dragon' show, my standout show of the week. Kiss of the Dragon

I've kicked off my heels, filled the footspa and have finished my piece: Kiwi cool on show at NZ Fashion Week.

Fashion Fatigue
I am currently suffering from Fashion Fatigue. I'm covering New Zealand Fashion Week for Fashion Capital and am all frocked out.

Nicky Watson in IPGBut can't complain, the clothes are fabulous and there's enough free bubbly to keep a girl going. There's a day by day photo roundup of all of the shows at the NZ Fashion Week website, and reviews at FashioNZ. The IPG [International Play Girl] show today was fun, with a bling bling range of clothes that screamed Riviera chic. I wanted everything except the diamante bikini modelled by Nicky Watson - not exactly practical but beautifully displayed.

I did some live fashion reports for George FM, chatting with special guest Cozmo Jenks [milliner to the stars], and Jack Yan from Lucire - a man of many talents and many voices.Jack Yan with Thane from GeorgeFM

The Powder RoomI must confess that the L'Oreal Powder Room is the best place to watch the Main Hall shows from. They have the live camera feeds on screens, which you can watch whilst sipping champagne and having your hair, face and nails done.

Now that's practical.

The Guyvermentary - Guyver's first visit to NZ

"Question: What do you get when you mix up Guyver, 9 Lasers, UV Decor, 2 Live Acts, several hundred mad-for-it clubbers, 2 rooms and a bunny rabbit? Answer: The Launch of Tidy Trax New Zealand Tidy NZ

Check it out for yourselves with our Guyvermentary - a behind the scenes, and from the dancefloor view of Guyver's first vist to New Zealand.

The harder generation touched down last Friday (17th) in Auckland, a true rendition of what the future will bring and the NZ launch for Resonate 3. Gorgeous local lass Hoover Kitty kicked the night off setting the pace with fine hard trance that began to gather a crowd from the word go, whilst PhunkyDave span some funk in the second room for those who wanted a little more pace in the night so they weren't injected in the deep end. Speaking of the second room, the theme for the night was UV and the décor was that of a fluro space setting, much of which was 3D and shimmered between the small lasers. I spy with my little eye, something that resembled a spaceman with young Guyver's face on it.

Matt Camp then stormed the second room with some house beats which quickly evolved into euphoric trance. A gaze of amazement spread through the main room when the first of our live acts touched down, Leighton hit the wheels of steel whilst Ilfe performed live on the electric violin and ended some time later with a cracking rendition over 'Malice In Wonderland'.

Guyver & friends As the clock stuck one, our international visitor and special guest Guyver took centre stage with a spectacular lighting laser display, we were literally struck from all corners and we all got ready to crank. Guy certainly let his fans know he was there, truly a wicked performer dropping anthems such as Black Spider's 'Save Your Life', 'Serious Sound' and much to the delight of the crowd his remix of Lab4 Candyman.

Justin Sane followed pushing the tempo up one more notch with some fast, thick hard house which got everyone's temperatures rising with Rachael Auburn 'Satisfaction' and BK and LAB4's 'Final Chapter'. Changing rooms featured upcoming local heroes The Filterbrats who spread their weight across 4 turntables, 2 mixers, bongos and scratching, whilst Munta kept up the pace in the main room with a mixture of new and old classics. Did anyone else notice the appearance of the bunny rabbit shaking his tale and giving out plenty of bunny love? I know I got my photo.

Last performance in the second room came from the bouncy orange mohawk man known as Chelfyn, playing some phat acid techno which was finished early for our last act in the main room... There's only one way to finish a night like this and that's with local hero Taz, out of the frying pan and into the fire, we all charged hard for everything we had and right up to 6am it was still packed. The familiar cry of 'One more!' soon became a satisfying scream as the night wound up with the original Lab4 'Candyman' on none other than +8. My legs may never be the same again! A truly fantastic night, loads of give-aways and just hang on whilst I get my diary to reserve the date in advance for the next one."
Review by Justin Sane.

Chelfyn and I had an awesome weekend. The Tidy Trax NZ launch had top tunes, top production and a totally up for it crowd. I went to the aiport early in the day to film Guyver's arrival, and then he was whisked off to the record shops to sign things. After that it was off to the UpFM madhouse for Jarra's drivetime show. Poor Guyver patiently signed things and did interviews before he was released to his hotel for some sleep. The club filled up by midnight and it went off all night. The photos are up at UpFM, Hardhouse, and Twisted and the feedback has been awesome.

On Saturday night Kells had her nipple pierced live on air. I can't really remember much about today.

Free Lapdances
I got a free lapdance at the UpFM studios on Saturday night. Taz and Justin Sane [the Tidy NZ boys] had some Guyver tickets to give out . Two chicks called to say that they'd give us a lapdance if we gave them some tickets. Of course Kells and I had to have the first go! They seemed a little thrown by the fact that we were chicks and kept about three feet away, while the boys had the full on lap treatment.Girl on girl action

Though Justin spent most of the time on his mobile telling his mates!

Kiwi Dance
Hello Kiwi Dance
I've been in hysterics since I Googled the words Kiwi Dance. It's the pink socks that keep setting me off.
