TMet signs to Tidydigital

Welcome to the future of New Zealand dance music. It has taken months of hard work but now its finally all ready to reveal our new face to the world. TMet Recordings is proud to announce it has gone international. Starting with Tidy Digital TMet has started signing with the world's biggest online music stores to distribute new Kiwi music globally.

Our forthcoming tracks will be available to download as high quality 320kbps MP3's and shortly also as .wav files (so for just a few extra cents you will be able to purchase tracks at the highest available quality.).

TMet has been selling its music digitally since 2003, making it one of the oldest digital download labels in the world and already has over 61 releases signed. New label manager Justin Sane has focused 2006 on taking TMet international and putting NZ music firmly on the map.

We will be selecting the creme de la creme of NZ produced releases (House/Trance/Hard Dance etc.) to host on the international download portals amongst the biggest labels in the world. If you think you've got what it takes, please contact Justin Sane now!

Chelfyn - DJ, VJ, Illusionist

Chelfyn's new obsession is street Magic or as he prefers to call it - Illusion. He's only been practicing for a month or so, but has already been entertaining the gaggles of addicts outside Auckland clubs. It's a guaranteed audience now they have banned smoking in NZ pubs & clubs.

This clip is of Chelfyn making a coin appear inside an unopened Heineken can, and then recycling it to refill with beer:

Illusionist: Chelfyn, Camera: Matt Camp, Audience: Flick, Phloss, DJ Tania M, Chris & Tom McGuiness. Filmed outside Kiss Nightclub, Karangahape Rd, Auckland, New Zealand. 13/04/06.

Pirates versus Ninjas, Friday 7th @ Kiss Bar, K'Rd, Auckland
It's one of those great debates that cycle the net on a regular basis. Who would win in a fight - Pirates or Ninjas? (see the Wikipaedia P v N entry.) Considering the hours devoted to this topic on NZ Rave, it's amazing any work gets done in New Zealand. So in order to decide once and for all who parties hardest, come along to Pirates v Ninjas @ Kiss Bar this Friday.

With DJs Psychelfyn & Gargoyle (Psykick), Da Norm & Xtensa (Giggle) and introducing Mark Osbourne. Pirates & Ninjas get in for half price and each costume counts towards the final verdict. Personally I think Pirates would win on board a ship, but Ninjas would kick ass on dry land.

Also check out Chelfyn's Pirates Versus Ninjas Ad as voiced by the man himself, and I highly recommend the trailer for Pirates v Ninjas - The Movie...

Update: Pirates WIN!

It's a Virtual World for Mohawk Media

Chelfyn and have recently started a fortnightly slot on New Zealand's National Radio. It's the Aoteaoroan equivalent of the BBC, and has some excellent programmes and presenters. Like the intellectually intimidating Kim Hill and the chocolate voiced Jim Mora. I'd highly recommend a listen to this series of programmes called 'Are Angels OK', arising from a collaboration between eminent New Zealand writers and physicists .

I used to do net commentary back in Bristol for the BBC, and it's great to be working my grey cells again. Since I finished as Editor of KnowledgeBoard I've left my brain coast a bit. It's a chance to talk about chewy technology & futurology issues that will hopefully spark some lively watercooler debates. Our fortnightly slot is called 'Virtual World' on Afternoons with Jim Mora, touching on topics like robots for the elderly, DRM, video on demand, and nanotechnology. I even got to throw in the hive mind theory, that the internet might one day become sentient.

You can hear a clip of this week's 'Virtual World' with stand in host Paul Brennan. The link is active for the next five days, or you can catch us live on Wednesday April 12th and April 26th from around 3.00 - 3.30 p.m. Click here for a list of all Radio New Zealand Programmes.
